Shell Necklaces at the Pre-Columbia Museum, Cusco, Peru
For any visitor to Peru a must-see location is the Pre-Columbia Museum in Cusco. The Museo de Arte Precolombino is dedicated to the archaeological artefacts from pre-Columbian Peru and has some of the finest examples of art ranging from 1250 BC and 1532 AD.
The first room you enter in the Museum contains some of the most beautiful examples of shell necklaces I have ever seen. There is little that can prepare you for how beautiful they are and the photographs on this page will only give you a taste. You have to see them in person.
