Wedding Photography Chippenham Park, Cambridgeshire
Sun, Aug 31 2014

Without doubt, Chippenham Park is an absolutely stunning location for a wedding. The grounds are just spectacular and offer such a variety of locations for awesome photos. Not only that, but the main house is a wedding photographers dream. Enormous rooms with wooden floors, and floor to ceiling bay windows that bathe the room in natural light. What more could you ask for?

Alison was getting ready in the main house in one of the large bedrooms so there was plenty of time to get all the bridal preparations before Duncan arrived. Even when he did arrive there was no way they could accidentally bump in to each other! I captured photos of both of them before the ceremony started, and I was amazed at how relaxed they both were.

Alison and Duncan chose to have the ceremony outside using the gazebo by the lake, and thankfully the weather was wonderful on the day. It provides such a beautiful backdrop for the guests as they watch the ceremony because the water is set behind the gazebo.

The choice of purple as the main colour gave a deep contrast to Alison’s beautiful wedding dress and all looked stunning in the summer sun.

As soon as the ceremony finished, the piper started playing to lead the guests back up to the main house - which left some time for a few beautiful shots of the happy couple down by the water. Just in this one location we had:

  • The gazebo
  • The large bridge over the water
  • The decking behind the gazebo
  • The beautiful willow tree
  • The walk back up to the main house
  • The gardens
  • (and this was in all one small part of the grounds)

Back at the house the guests were already enjoying the drinks and canapés and whilst Alison and Duncan mingled with guests I had a chance to get some arial shots of the party.

As with most weddings I photograph, they happy couple had a few formal group shots that they wanted, and this took very little time (I have a way of getting them taken quickly).

After some more mingling I took the bride and groom around some of the other parts of the grounds to get some lovely romantic shots of them together. Again, we were spoilt for choice - the gardens, the trees, the walkways, another little bridge, the fountain - where to go next.

After food was served, I was still weaving through guests getting some natural shots of people enjoying themselves before the evening party started - all of which was down at the bottom in the large marquee.

I loved the day here at Chippenham Park and if you are looking for a wedding venue in Cambridgeshire, then this should certainly be high on your list and definitely worth visiting. I know I’ll be back as I already have two weddings booked for 2017.

My thanks to Alison and Duncan for inviting me to their wedding.
